Introducing PrivyTrack's Advocacy Hub

PrivyTrack is more than just an app. It is a movement to enshrine our rights to privacy, and reproductive healthcare access. In recent years, our nation has become a patchwork of laws, with some states enshrining the rights to reproductive healthcare access, while other states place total bans on reproductive healthcare access. Women are disproportionately impacted by healthcare and policy decisions. Under the decision to overturn Roe v. In the United States, millions of women have been put in danger of having their private information used against them, as healthcare apps are not covered by HIPAA. Many period-tracking apps collect personal information including missed periods, cycle dates, pregnancy attempts and miscarriages. The data collected by period tracking apps may be used against them in criminal and civil proceedings in states where abortion is no longer legal.

PrivyTrack evolved to combat this issue by giving women discretion, autonomy and equality in healthcare. Women can trust PrivyTrack to never let their private health information out of Privy’s hands. More importantly, PrivyTrack offers users full control of their health information, allowing women to opt-in or -out of our services.  For centuries, health research was done by men, and for men. PrivyTrack seeks to collaborate with researchers across the U.S. to develop a better understanding of women’s health & wellness.

Women deserve to have resources and a community to be well-informed self-advocates, who can take control of their own health. The Advocacy Hub seeks to inform and to advocate for better policies regarding women and data privacy. The Period, a monthly newsletter dedicated to women's rights, publishes articles and personal stories. It covers the latest legislation and cases concerning women's data privacy and the right to make autonomous decisions about their bodies and healthcare. Additionally, we will feature all sorts of resources from scripts to call your local representative to collaborations with other organizations that are working on these issues. The Advocacy Hub includes local Privy Advocacy Hubs. High school and college students can start these hubs to advocate for better policies regarding women's rights and data privacy within their communities.

We are living in the crux of a pivotal moment of history. Since the 1970’s, conservative backlash towards Roe v. Wade has led to innumerable policies and court case precedents that have chipped away at the right to personal autonomy and reproductive healthcare access. Additionally, the rise of mega-technological companies has led to erosion of consumer protection in the face of a “free” internet. Privy recognizes how dangerous the current situation is and hopes to become a solution to these issues. Through the Advocacy Hub, we hope to advocate for policies and empower others across the nation to fight for their rights.
